Connecting a Watch

Pairing a smartwatch with your phone — Apple Watch, Samsung, Google, Motorola, and LG — plus adding a cellular watch line.

Pairing a smartwatch with your phone, or adding a cellular watch line? Find your watch below.

Apple Watch

GPS-only (non-cellular) Apple Watch

  1. Keep your iPhone and Apple Watch close together and both powered on, with Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi enabled on the iPhone.

  2. Open the Watch app on your iPhone.

  3. If it's a new pairing, tap Start Pairing and follow the prompts, or align the camera with the animation on the watch face.

  4. Once paired, the watch syncs automatically — no additional cellular setup is needed since it relies on your phone's connection.

Cellular Apple Watch

  1. Complete the pairing steps above first.

  2. In the Watch app, go to Cellular and tap Set Up Cellular.

  3. Follow the prompts to add your Apple Watch as a companion line. This requires your carrier (T-Mobile or AT&T) to support Apple Watch cellular plans on your specific line — contact Previ support to confirm eligibility.

Not Connecting or Stuck "Searching"?

  • Restart both the iPhone and the Watch.

  • On the Watch: Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings (or unpair and re-pair as a last resort — back up first).

  • Make sure Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi are both on for the iPhone.

For cellular-specific issues — line eligibility, the Watch losing signal on its own, Family Setup, or moving a line to a new Watch — see Advanced Apple Watch Troubleshooting.

Samsung (Galaxy Watch)

Pairing

  1. Install the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone.

  2. Turn on the watch and place it near your phone with Bluetooth enabled.

  3. Open Galaxy Wearable and follow the on-screen pairing steps.

  4. Install any pending watch software updates through the app — this resolves a lot of early connection hiccups.

Adding Cellular (LTE Galaxy Watch)

  1. In Galaxy Wearable, go to Watch settings > Connection > Mobile network (wording varies by watch and Android version).

  2. Follow the prompts to add your watch as a companion line — contact Previ support to confirm eligibility.

Not Pairing or Keeps Disconnecting?

  • Restart both the phone and the watch.

  • Confirm Bluetooth and Location are turned on on the phone.

  • Make sure the watch has enough charge (below ~10% can interrupt pairing).

  • Try unpairing and re-pairing the watch as a last resort.

Google (Pixel Watch / Wear OS)

Pairing

  1. Install the Pixel Watch app (for Pixel Watch) or the Wear OS by Google app (for other Wear OS watches).

  2. Turn on the watch and place it near your phone with Bluetooth enabled.

  3. Open the app and follow the on-screen pairing steps.

  4. Sign into your Google account when prompted.

Adding Cellular (LTE Watch)

  1. Look for Cellular or Mobile network under watch settings in the app.

  2. Follow the prompts to add your watch as a companion line — contact Previ support to confirm eligibility.

Not Pairing or Keeps Disconnecting?

  • Restart both the phone and the watch.

  • Confirm Bluetooth and Location are turned on on the phone.

  • Make sure the watch has enough charge.

  • Try forgetting and re-pairing the watch from the app.

Motorola (Moto 360)

Motorola's smartwatches run on Wear OS and are GPS-only — there's no cellular/LTE option on these models.

Pairing

  1. Install the Wear OS by Google app on your phone.

  2. Turn on the watch and place it near your phone with Bluetooth enabled.

  3. Open the app and follow the on-screen pairing steps.

  4. Sign into your Google account when prompted.

Not Pairing or Keeps Disconnecting?

  • Restart both the phone and the watch.

  • Confirm Bluetooth and Location are turned on on the phone.

  • Make sure the watch has enough charge.

  • Try forgetting and re-pairing from the Wear OS app.

LG

LG's smartwatches (LG Watch Style, Sport, Urbane) run on Wear OS. LG exited the mobile device business in 2021, so these steps are for existing LG watches — if you have an older LTE model, carrier-side cellular activation may no longer be supported, so check with Previ support before assuming a cellular plan can be added.

Pairing
