What Device Protection covers

Previ Device Protection covers accidental damage to the phones on your account. Select Device Protection in the menu to see your coverage or to enroll.

Covered:

  • Cracked screens

  • Touchscreen failures

  • Shattered back glass

  • Liquid spills and liquid damage

  • Drop and impact damage

  • Battery failures (wear and tear not covered)

  • Accidental damage to ports, buttons, and speakers

Not covered:

  • Lost or stolen devices

  • Normal wear and tear

  • Cosmetic damage that does not affect how the phone works

Damage must have happened during your active coverage period.

Which phones qualify

Any working phone with a number on your Previ account qualifies, whatever the brand and wherever you bought it. A phone you brought from another carrier or bought outright from a US retailer is just as eligible as one bought through Previ.

What it costs

Pricing depends on how many phones are on your account, not on which phones they are:

  • $20 a month flat covers every device on the account, if you have more than one

  • $12 a month for single-line accounts. Contact support to have this added.

Every claim has a $100 deductible regardless of return or replacement.

See Previ Device Protection FAQs for how many claims you can submit and other plan limits.

Enrolling and registering your phones

  1. Log in and select Device Protection.

  2. Select Add Protection. One plan covers every eligible phone on your account.

  3. Register each device you want covered at forms.previ.com/register.

Add a phone to your account later and you will need to register it too. It is not picked up automatically.

Each member is allowed one claim on an unregistered device. Beyond that, a device must be registered before a claim can be submitted, so it is worth doing up front.

The 30-day waiting period

There is a 30-day waiting period from your signup date before coverage begins. If the damage happened, or the claim is filed, inside that first 30 days, we cannot cover the repair.

In other words, this is not something to sign up for after the screen breaks. Enrolling while your phone is intact is the point.

Filing a claim

Submit your claim at forms.previ.com/claim. Do not pay for a repair before your claim is approved.

  1. Submit the claim with details of the damage.

  2. Our team reviews it for approval.

  3. Once approved, take your device to any reputable repair shop.

  4. Submit a photo of the receipt. We reimburse the total cost minus the $100 deductible.

You have 60 days from the date of approval to submit your receipt. After 60 days the claim is cancelled.

If your device cannot be repaired, you must provide documentation from the repair shop confirming this. Accepted forms of documentation include:

  • A written quote from the repair shop confirming the device cannot be repaired.

  • A statement on the repair shop’s official company letterhead explaining that the device is irreparable. Once approved, we will replace your device with a Grade A refurbished phone.

Submission Steps for Irreparable Device Documentation

  1. Take a clear photo or scan of the repair shop’s note or quote.

  2. Upload the image or document to the claims portal or app where you initiated your claim.

How long a claim takes

Submit on a weekday and you should hear back within 24 hours. Our Device Protection team does not work weekends, so allow up to 72 hours for anything submitted from Friday afternoon through Sunday night.

Cancelling

Coverage is month-to-month and you can cancel any time. Cancel between the 1st and the 29th of the month and your coverage stays active through the last day of that month.
